Match Race

As the results of Timed Trials are published, the first 16 fastest boats are entitled to attend the Match Race. The event itself comprises 16 two-boat races, which 2 boats fight against each other during 2 laps on a specially allocated course that is built up with a 2-pin short circuit and a third buoy, all of them being placed in one straight line also forming a long circuit. The boat starting on the left runs the short circuit while the boat on the right runs the long one. After completing their first lap they are to change track and run on the other circuit which results their arrival to the finish-line almost at the same time. Only the winner of each run is allowed to step onto the following quarter-and semifinals and to the Grand Finale. Copulation of the opponents is based on a special qualifying matrix to maximize the excitement by pairing boats with similar performance.
