RIGA TO SET ANNUAL BOAT GP SECOND ROUND IN 2006 AS WELL
Further to announce the 2006 season kick off to be staged in Vukovar, Croatia at the beginning of May 2006, the City of Riga and the Latvian Water Motorsports Federation are also to inform the powerboating world that their capital will host one of the stages of 2006 Boat GP World Powerboat Championship Series. The race weekend of the event will be allocated in June of next year.

The latvian event in the City of Riga and with the patronage of the Federation means a solid ground in the Championship, since 2006 will witness the third event in the Boat GP history to return there, nevertheless, in each year the field welcomes a new driver from the baltic country. 2005 saw the fresh entry of Sergey Nikitin, starting at the Boat GP of Spain for his first time, in 2004 Gennady Touchkovs joined in the battles of the season, while 2002 was the year when Uvis Slakteris came to be the first latvian ever at the grids.

UIM Promoter Jose Luis del Palacio commented gladly:

„Riga and our latvian friends act a significally important role in the Boat GP, we wish to have many more countries and organizers who can handle the challanges of hosting annual rounds. I can state also in the name of our drivers that we are very delighted and always spend an exceptional time during the Riga events”

With two events already confirmed in the 2006 calendar, the 2005 season is still to offer thrills and spills with the nexts Boat GP´s. Korea Boat GP 05 – 29/30 October
