ANDERSSON FOR PRESIDENT!
We could voice the election phrase to celebrate 2-time World Champion Jonas Andersson of Sweden who won the final round of the 4-stop Presidents Cup Powerboat Championship and also finished the tournament with the overall trophy in his hands.

We could voice the election phrase to celebrate 2-time World Champion Jonas Andersson of Sweden who won the final round of the 4-stop Presidents Cup Powerboat Championship and also finished the tournament with the overall trophy in his hands.
Andersson, native of Orebro, Sweden attended all four rounds at Qatar, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah during the season and proved unique skills by winning three out of them, but lets see what happened in short.

The opening Qatar round saw the Swede stepping onto the top of the podium, followed by Jay Price driving for Qatar Team, Andersson’s Boat GP teammate Philippe Tourre and Colin Jelf of Great Britain. Pole Position of the event was also occupied by Andersson.
At the next stop held in Sharjah, luck seemed to evade Andersson as Emirates Team driver Thani Al Qamzy won the race, Ivan Brigada came as runner-up from the Pole Position and then Andersson as third, and again with Colin Jelf as fourth.
Third round, an already familiar circuit in Abu Dhabi from 2004 when Andersson closed the GP with a second place, brought the success back in a spectacular style, Pole Position for the Swede and a win, Colin as well did a great job by finishing as second and Brigada as third.
No doubt, there wasn’t any driver at the final round in Fujairah to hinder Andersson from his obvious purpose of becoming the Champion of the Presidents Cup, and as it had been expected he was again the first to cross the finish line starting out again from the Pole Position, the great rival Brigada of Italy as second and Colin Jelf on the third place.

Congratulations for all the drivers participating at the series and especially to Jonas Andersson for his excellent performance. The next effort of the 2006 season is ahead in six weeks’ time with the opening round of the F2000 World Powerboat Championship on 6/7th May returning to Croatia with a skip of one year but this time to a new venue of Vukovar. Boats and equipments are shipped back from the UAE next Monday to the home countries of the drivers to leave them a while for the preparation, but the whole year racing experience is just about to rise and we’ll see how eager Andersson will be to continue winning in the World Championship as well or the Jelf brothers will prevail? Stay tuned for more news…..
