Riga (Latvia) June 3rd 2006
What has been awaited since the boats returned back from the Far East, now already begun in the Baltic state of Latvia, the meeting of the 20 best F2000 drivers of the world got underway in Riga.
The beautiful capitol city sets the 2006 season-starter event up and welcomes the F2000 World Powerboat Championship for the third time in a row on river Daugava. The 20 determined pilots running under 12 different flags will put on a show and start the fight for the 2006 World Title during the following 2 days that will take the attention of the fans of powerboating worldwide.

The name that is definetly connected with Riga is Jonas Andersson, who managed to win the 2004 inaugural round held in Riga but unsuccessfully failed to finish the one on the top in 2005 despite leading the field untill the penultimate lap when trim problems forced him to pass the dominance to Marc Rolls who took the chequered flag at the end. This year will not see the British driver lining up on the grids, but Andersson is here to prove that he can re-gain his luck and will surely do his best this year.

The representatives of USA, UAE, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Russia, Hungary, France, Great Britain, Spain and the Netherlands start the official program and the 2006 season with the Saturday Free Practises at 10 o` clock, local time.
