The Chinese Motorboat Association and Boat GP Promoter Jose Luis del Palacio today held a press conference in the China Central Television studios, in central Beijing, where the Race Dignitaries and Leaders of the Committee of Organisation were presented to the Chinese media.

Amongst those present were vice president of Chinese Olympic Committee Mr. Zhang Faqiang, vice mayor of Chongqing Municipal government Mr. Tan Qiwei, director of CCTV sports channel Mr. Jiang Heping, vice director of Chinese Water Sports Administration Mr. Xin Qunying, deputy director of Chongqing Sports Adminitrative Bureau Mr. Zhang Xin, president assistant of Zong Shen Group Mr. Liu Nanlin, vice director of the local organizing committee Mr. Liang Xianyu, general manager of CCTV sports promoting Ltd Mr. Ruan Wei and vice head of Wanzhou district of Chongqing Municipal government Mr. Fu Hongyue and the press conference left the members of the National and International press in no doubt that it is China’s intention to present a water festival that will set future standards of excellence for the UIM Formula 2000 World Championship round.

The countdown is now on. A website was launched at the conference, www.boatgp.cn, to enable China to follow the preparations and build-up to a fantastic water sport event, in which the Formula 2000 race will be transmitted live to more than 100 million viewers, as well as seen by the tens of thousands of spectators expected to turn-up on the day and enjoy the MatchRace and the World Championship.
