SST-120 Mercury V6 Powerhead |Midsection |Gearbox

Gearbox

The midsection connects the complete engine to the hull and holds the powerhead being placed on the engine tray. The exhaust gas flows through the midsection from the powerhead to the open air. Contains the built-in powerlift that moves the powerhead vertically within a 1-inch distance according to the driving conditions and adjusted by the driver. With the powertrim cylinder also connected to the midsection by the stern bracket, the angle of the complete engine can be changed as required by the conditions of the race-track. The steering arms at each sides of the midsection are attached to the steering cables which are bound on the steering drum. By turning the steering wheel, the steering cables transmit the movement by pulling the midsection and turning the engine to the proper direction. A lot of boats are currently using electric power assisted steering (EPS) which helps them turn faster.
